When Legends Align: BLOGA FLANI X UKOO FLANI Finally Meet Up at the Historic ‘Ndio Hii’ Album Launch

Last night was one of the most important nights in my career as a music journalist. I got to meet the legendary group that has something to do with this brand name. When I picked this name I referenced the group because most of my content revolved around rap music.

Sitting side by side with Cannibal and Labalaa was a dream come true. I know we don’t get many of those these days but I’ll say it, those dreams, when they come through, is the best experience you will ever have.

I didn’t just sit side by side with legends of Kenyan Hip Hop last night. I got to talk to them. I got to ask serious industry questions. I got to pick their brains on what Kenyan Hip Hop means to them.

Watu huniambia nifanye research, jana nilikuwa nabubujikwa na knowledge. They taught me the motivations behind their songs. They appreciated the questions I asked. I got to meet Ndolo Yenge. I got to interview Kimya. He’s Bamboo’s brother, also a brother to that beautiful goddess who’s yet to answer my DMs. Karibu nimwambie please reach out to your sister and tell her to check DMs.

I sat with Lavosti. I sat with Fundi Frank. I got to meet Nazizi. I got to talk to Abass Kubaff. I got to ask Vigeti for a sit down but he was too busy. I got to talk to the likes of DagzGizi and one of the best Hip Hop DJs Kev the DJ.

The whole experience was just one eye-opening moment. I even got to connect with one of Mombasa’s fastest rising artists in Marsh Mashavu. I got to meet Grip Musiq and Pictures who’s a brilliant videographer behind some of the bangers from coasto!

All I can say is last night will remain one of the biggest moments in this Hip Hop journalis career. Watu wa Stendikisa waliniona kwa camera and I am sure wanajua kijana ya ingo ako kibarua na inampeleka angalau.

Shout outs to the whole Ukoo Flani group members. Those I got to interview, those I got to say a simple Hi to, all of y’all who recognised me, asanteni kwa kuja!
