Unstoppable: 9 Finishes in 9 Fights at ANZA MMA Pro Night 002
Nairobi’s Broadwalk Mall was absolutely electric this past Saturday night as ANZA MMA Pro Night 002 blew the roof off East African combat sports. More than 1,000 fanatical fans packed the sold-out venue for a historic night of professional Mixed Martial Arts. The jaw-dropping result? Nine fights, nine consecutive finishes, and zero work for the judges.
Fighters from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, South Sudan, and the DRC converged on Nairobi, but it was a tough start for the home crowd. Uganda’s Justin Okot and Lawrence Mukiibi quieted the arena early, putting the Ugandan contingent up 2-0 with quick finishes over regional rivals.
However, the Kenyan fighters surged back. Fan-favorite Alhassan Mosala made an emphatic pro debut, weathering an intense opening round before securing a spectacular Round 2 ground-and-pound TKO. Minutes later, Brian Munyi—the veteran MMA Commissioner of the Kenya Oriental Combat Sports Federation—delivered a technical masterclass. After hitting a flawless throw against the cage, Munyi unleashed a finishing sequence that won him a well-deserved TKO and the Knockout of the Night bonus.
The definitive highlight of the evening was the heavyweight war between Kenya’s Kevin Odongo and DRC powerhouse Romain Kasase. Trapped under Kasase’s 118kg full-mount, Odongo showed unbelievable heart, escaping the position, taking Kasase’s back, and forcing a Round 3 TKO referee stoppage. The crowd erupted as Afropop star Bien jumped into the cage to celebrate the Fight of the Night winner.
Finally, in the main event, BJJ brown belt Ouhsummer Ali Abad (the ‘Ninja Turtle’) sealed the historic night. He swept South Sudan’s Peter Busak and locked in a vicious shotgun armbar to send Nairobi into absolute meltdown. East African MMA hasn’t just arrived—under ANZA MMA, it’s taking over.
